The Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) recognized one individual for his outstanding contributions to the Council during the 2020 AEC Annual Meeting & Leadership Conference in San Antonio, in March. Dan Dunn, Sales Director for CASTOOL Tooling Solutions in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada, was presented with the AEC Volunteer of the Year award. Each year, AEC recognizes one or more individuals for their excellent service and achievements as an AEC volunteer.
Dunn has served on the AEC Die & Tooling Team for many years and has been a presenter at many AEC educational workshops and webinars, sharing his knowledge and expertise on the aluminum extrusion process. His work continues with the Council, providing fellow aluminum extrusion industry professionals with benchmarking and best practices guidance to help educate and raise the level of knowledge for the entire industry.
Speaking about Dunn during the award presentation, AEC Chairman R. Scott Kelley, President & CEO of Service Center Metals in Prince George, Va., said, “Never at a loss for words, [Danny] communicates in a way that harmonizes with all levels of intellect and ethnic backgrounds. He’s always thinking of ways to make things run or function better and please his customers. He puts 150% of his energy and time into whatever he does. He’s a ‘people person’ and is well known for his sense of humor and can set the tone just by walking in a room. He’s such a happy guy–constantly upbeat, lifting people up and continually bringing a smile to others’ faces.”
Accepting the award, Dunn commented, “It’s a tremendous honor to join the long list of distinguished, knowledgeable members that have set the bar of how to pass on knowledge and experience to our members and our growing industry. The AEC plays such an integral part in the growth of education and sharing of advanced technologies and improved processes through peer to peer training/sharing and industry scholars. To win the Volunteer of The Year doesn’t cap off a career of serving a wonderful organization but a mid-point of what is yet to come. Through dedication, passion and a little bit of humor we all can learn from each other.”
