The Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI) has released details of its program for the 2013 CFSEI Annual Expo and Meeting, which will be held May 6-7, 2013 at the Hilton Financial District Hotel in San Francisco, California. The program and registration information are available at www.cfsei.org http://www.cfsei.org/.
The keynote address will be presented on May 6, 2013 by Roger LaBoube, Ph.D., P.E., director of the Wei-Wen Yu Center for Cold-Formed Steel Structures and a pioneer in the field of cold-formed steel design. The two-day conference will feature several concurrent educational sessions covering these topics:
- “Load Bearing Cold-Formed Steel in a Mid-Rise World”
- “Software for Cold-Formed Steel – Parts I and II”
- “Fabrication – Panelization Modularization”
- “BIM: How Do Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Fit In?”
- “CFSEI Tech Notes: The Missing Links”
- “Cold-Formed Steel Framed Lateral Force-Resisting Systems”
- “Design Considerations of Non-Load Bearing Curtain Wall Framing”
- “Testing of Connectors for Cold-Formed Steel: Challenges, Recent Innovations and Future Direction”
- “Cold-Formed Steel Roof Edge Systems”
- “Proper Use of Cold-Formed Steel Trusses to Resist Lateral Loads on Buildings”
- “Keeping It Simple – Cold-Formed Steel Design and Construction”
- “Lateral Drift Design in Cold-Formed Steel Walls”
- “Testing and Analysis of Steel Stud Systems Subjected to Blast Loads”
For the list of presenters and session descriptions, please visit www.cfsei.org http://www.cfsei.org/. Online registration is also available.
Sponsorship opportunities for the Expo are available at the platinum, gold, silver, bronze and supporter levels.
The CFSEI Design and Distinguished Service Awards winners will be announced on May 7, 2013. The awards program was established to recognize outstanding achievement in creative design, technical innovation, and best practices in the use of cold-formed steel framing and to acknowledge individuals who have volunteered their time and talent to the industry.
