NRCA will be holding a one-day CERTA Train-the-trainer Authorization workshop Aug. 22 at Triton College in River Grove, Ill. from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. The workshop will consist of a 10-hour accreditation program about how to teach torch safety. Through classroom instruction and hands-on torching activities, roofing professionals will learn the latest industry best safety practices for torch-applied roof systems and the teaching skills needed to train others about torch safety. Successfully completing the program will lead to authorization to conduct CERTA certification training for roofing workers. Authorized trainers receive training manuals, including an instructors guide and English and Spanish editions of the CERTA student manual and training video.
Program prerequisites include being proficient in the use of a roofing torch, being able to speak and read English, and having some experience training others. Class size is limited, and registration is required. Each attendee is required to complete a prequalifying questionnaire and submit it before the start of the class.
