ATAS International, Inc., Allentown, Pa., candidate Joe Sestak visited the Allentown facility. Democrat Sestak is running for the Senate against Republican Pat Toomey. Sestak was greeted by ATAS President Dick Bus and Vice President Jim Bus before touring the manufacturing facility. Sestak then discussed his plans for job growth and small-business incentives with ATAS employees. For instance, he reviewed his goal to fund emerging technology industries—such as the photovoltaic and solar collector products offered by ATAS—and his plan to give startups and high-growth areas a 30 percent tax credit. Sestak also touched on health care issues, such as using insurance “pooling” to reduce the higher rates paid by small businesses. Another topic was the need to keep drilling for oil in America, but doing so in a responsible manner by changing the leasing practices of oil companies on American land. “I think it is important to be an active citizen and get involved in decisions that affect our lives and community,” Dick said. “Learning about Joe’s agenda items is an aspect of that, and we invite Pat Toomey to do the same.”
