Wheeling Corrugating, Wheeling, W.Va., recently held the company’s first-ever Distributor Advisory Council to gain insight from top building material distributors. As a vital link between Wheeling Corrugating and the builders who install metal roofing and siding, distributors are in a unique position to provide a frontline viewpoint of the market—and to guide the company’s product and service profile in ways that better serve the end-user. “We value the ideas and opinions offered by distributors who sell Wheeling Corrugating products because they are acutely aware of our customers’ needs,” said Todd Williams, general manager of Wheeling Corrugating Building Products. “Our new DAC initiative provides a forum for Wheeling Corrugating distributors to get involved in the production process and guide us in the direction of the market.” The event was an opportunity to discuss building trends and product innovations with the goal of producing ideas for short-and long-term strategic planning tied to marketing, production, logistics and customer service. The daylong agenda included several breakout sessions and a workshop review. Attendees produced an impressive list of detailed suggestions that Wheeling Corrugating plans to implement, including initiatives related to product development, training and education, advertising and e-marketing.
